Hello Jack, We use shielded loop antennas for measuring inductive loop systems operating between 40 kHz and 8 MHz. We have Electro-Metrics and ETS-Lindgren loops. In this frequency range, we have found it to be important to have a measurement site free of metallic objects, i.e., no ground plane, buried utilities (including re-enforced drainage pipes), buried trash etc. The signal ends up coupling to the metallic objects and corrupting the roll-off factor, influencing the repeatability of the measurement. Pre-amp, high pass filters, and appropriate RBW (if you have to worry about pulsing characteristics) help to obtain a low level signal and harmonic measurement.
