Check ANSI Z535 as well. That standard relates to
warning and instruction labels. Using the same "judgement,"
terminology and language in a manual, as is used in warning
labels, is prudent.
1. Signal Word
a. DANGER - Immediate hazards which WILL result in
severe personal injury or death if the warning is
ignored.
b. WARNING - Hazards or unsafe practices which COULD
result in severe personal injury or death if the warning
is ignored.
c. CAUTION - Hazards or unsafe practices which could
result in minor or moderate injury if the warning is
ignored.
