Ed,

If I were grading your answer on a mid-term; I’d give you an A, even though
it wasn’t what I was looking for. I’d also like to inform you that you
are exhibiting that literal type of thinking that gets us engineers chosen
last at prom dances as teenagers.

Infrared? Perhaps that’s the highest frequency “generated by man”.
Although some chemical reactions in the human body and plants take place on
timescales well below the attosecond timeframe; so there may be higher
frequencies given off by the human body. (It’s amazing to me that man still
doesn’t understand photosynthesis!) I myself didn’t know this fact until
I read an article sent to me as a reply to my last question.

Perhaps the “spirit” is in the frequencies beyond which we can now measure.

I love answers that result in more questions.

Back to the original question. I can remember having many posters on my wall
as a child, some with Apollo mission information, some with astronomical
stuff, one of them had a spectrum on it. (My friends had Daisy
Duke…probably more of the reason for the “Prom” thing that I mentioned
above.) It was similar to the ones that we see on the walls at most
compliance labs…you know AM Radio, FM Radio,…Microwaves, Infra-red,
Visible Light, Ultraviolet, X-rays…and everything above that was just called
“Cosmic Rays”.

Well, I’m now 35 with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
including post graduate work in Fields and Waves…and I still don’t know if
man has ever delved into that “Cosmic Ray” region and started to actually
make use of it or measure it. My guess is that somebody, somewhere is
fiddling around in that region of the spectrum; and I’m wondering what
they’re looking for.

I’m also sure that, if we ever do make use of cosmic rays… CENELEC will
regulate it and the US gov’t will figure out a way to tax it within about
two years of the discovery :-)

Chris:

I think that would have to be the infrared emission from your body. True, we
REFLECT shorter wavelengths (blue eyes), but that energy isn't GENERATED by
your body.

I love sneaky answers.
