One of the more durable I had used in the notebook industry was an Enthone
coating, Nickel over Copper.
 
While the shielding effectiveness claims were rather good from most conductive
coating vendors, the actual application would never achieve close to the
claim.  The issue being that a conductive coated sample clamped to an opening
in a screen room per the shielding effectiveness specifications really wasn't
representative of a typical housing with all its nooks and crannys and lack of
curvature between surfaces.  Add a few openings and mating surfaces that
cannot be coated for aesthetic reasons and you can easily see why you will
never approach even close to the claimed shielding effectivenss.
 
Ease of application and the durability (lack of flaking/corrosion) will be the
main points that affect your choice of product.  Though I don't have data on
it, I would bet that in a typical notebook housing that you would see a
difference between coated and not coated but the differences between types of
conductive coatings would be close to indistinguishable for the most part from
an emissions standpoint.

something like Electrodag550

application thickness.

 

Does anyone have any experience with this? Any long term durability issues?
