Radio and telecommunications equipment is not covered by the new EMCD, so I
would say: NONE.

The new EMCD that takes effect on July 20, 2007 says that equipment for fixed
installations may
not need CE marking and declaration of conformity. The fixed installation
must however meet
all emc requirements.

We sell equipment intended for fixed installations, specifically rf filters
and amplifiers for
the cellular phone infrastructure, and so fall under the R&TTE directive. My
take is that
since our equipment is under the R&TTE directive, we must continue to declare
conformity and CE
mark our equipment, despite the changes in the EMCD.

I see sales drooling at the idea of being able to sell anything in Europe
without design
changes, lab testing and declaration of conformity and pass responsibility
over to the system
integrator. What impact if any will the changes in the EMC directive have on
equipment falling
under R&TTE directive?

Thanks in advance for your opinions,

Best regards,

David.
