I have a general safety-related question that I cannot find referenced in EN61010-1. Is it acceptable from the viewpoint of EN61010-1 that pop rivets be used to join metal panels that are accessible to the user? In case the metal panel contacts a hazardous voltage in a single fault condition, the metal panel would conduct the fault current through the pop rivets that bond the panel with other panels and the current would flow to protective earth ground and blow the equipment’s overcurrent protective device. The panels in question are aluminum and the pop rivets are aluminum. The pop rivets would join one panel to another and would not be used to mechanically mount any other parts. Are pop rivets acceptable in this application?
