Dear Rich & Brian,
Thanks for your advice. Referring to IEC 61293, “~ 230 V” is a correct marking. In many electronics products or electrical appliances, they are commonly marked “230 V~” and I believed they were correct. I am now surprisingly aware that ~ 230 V is a correct marking. Do you have any idea why “230 V~” is considered correct for so long? This document does specify the sequence of rated values and characteristics. Is there any required format, i.e., rated supply voltage + nature of supply symbol, nature of supply symbol + rated supply voltage?
