Dan, et al,

We use a power cordset that is 18 AWG C-13 to NEMA 5-15 and it has all three
approvals. It started out when another division of our company paid the
supplier to obtain the approvals. I came into the fray when we had to get it
made RoHS compliant. Lot's of back and forth and round and round. But we got
it done and I replaced all of my other cordsets of this type with this one
supplier's part with one exception. I still need a 12 AWG or 14 AWG cordset
that is shielded and has all three approvals. But we did not want to pay the
$3k-4k to obtain the approvals on the few dozen we would use each year. So we
let our sales agent in country supply that cordset.

So it is possible to get done, just not everybody offers it - probably due to
sales volume issues.

Hello to the group,

Are requirements for UL/CSA and Japanese PSE Marked power supply cord sets
mutually exclusive? I've been trying to find a cord set that would satisfy
both North American and Japanese requirements for a plain vanilla NEMA 5-15
plug to C13 configuration. I checked the major international cord set vendors
in the US and can't find a single one. They look the same visually but there
must be some technical requirement that makes it difficult or impossible to do
both? Is it a wire or plug issue?

Thanks in advance.
