As far as I know, the requirements of JIS C8303 are not mutually exclusive
with the requirements of UL 498 and UL 817. However, the requirements are
divergent enough that it is not usually cost effective to make a cord for
both North America and Japan.

I believe that Phino has a part (PHP-301) that is a NEMA 5-15P with both UL
and DENAN approvals. This could be one source.

Volex has a NEMA 1-15P plug available with both UL and DENAN approvals, but
I don't know if they have a NEMA 5-15P. I couldn't find the grounded plug
at their web site.

These are only the vendors of which I know have the dual approvals. There
are likely other vendors with acceptable parts.

Hello to the group,

Are requirements for UL/CSA and Japanese PSE Marked power supply cord sets
mutually exclusive? I've been trying to find a cord set that would satisfy
both North American and Japanese requirements for a plain vanilla NEMA 5-15
plug to C13 configuration. I checked the major international cord set
vendors in the US and can't find a single one. They look the same visually
but there must be some technical requirement that makes it difficult or
impossible to do both? Is it a wire or plug issue?

Thanks in advance.
