Have a look at Guide for the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC. http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/sectors/electrical/files/emc_guide__updated_20100208_v3_en.pdf 1.2.6 Products for own use Where an apparatus is manufactured for own use, placing on the market is considered to take place at the moment of putting into service; the obligation to comply with the Directive begins with first use. Your product is required to comply with the EMC directive – you are not necessarily required to test it..... Your employer is also required to ensure that the product is safe when put into use... These will never be available on the open market and would be used on at the site they’re being shipped to. I thought I had read somewhere that such items were exempt from EMC testing, but can’t find anything to confirm that suspicion. I think this has been discussed previously, but searching the archives didn’t yield anything relevant and Google was not my friend with the various combinations of terms that I tried.
