The definition of EN 55022 effectively excludes application of Class A for all environments where people are working and may
listen to radio. And I think that the definition of radio should not be limited to broadcast radio, but include the radio over the whole frequency scope of the standard, also for professional communication, short range datacomms, cellular and any other type of radio. So if taken strict, nowhere….. <Irony ON> Application is possible only in machines larger than 20 meter cubic in the center (10 meters from each edge) without any wireless communication inside. <Irony off> Gert Gremmen ce-test, qualified testing bv Van: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Namens [email protected] Verzonden: vrijdag 3 september 2010 12:19 Aan: [email protected] Onderwerp: Industrial Environment What defines an industrial environment in Europe? EN 55011 defines Class A equipment as "equipment suitable for use in all establishments other than domestic and those directly connected to a low voltage power supply network which supplies buildings used for domestic purposes." EN 55011 defines Class B equipment as "equipment suitable for use in a domestic establishments and in establishments directly connected to a low voltage power supply network which supplies buildings used for domestic purposes." EN 55022 defines a domestic environment as "where the use of broadcast radio and television receivers may be expected within a distance of 10 m of the apparatus concerned." So would an industrial environment be anything not connected to the public power mains and where the use of radio and TV would not be expected within a distance of 10 meters?
