Ah yes - the 'Risk Management Team' - better know as the 'How many people
can die and how much money can be lost in law suits before we make a safe
product' team.

Subject: Re: SCV IEEE PSES Meeting, Tuesday, April 27, How to Avoid Being
the Next Toyota

To me, the obvious solution is to place the accountability for Product
Safety in a different department than the department responsible for
profit.

This weekend had just watched the interviews with the head of Toyota
[Toyoda, the fourth]. Am I the only one that caught his weaselness by
claiming the problem stemmed from the corruption of the Toyota ideal of
"defect-free" by the American culture and their misunderstandings which
took place in all our local plants?! I almost started to buy that ploy
and thought there should be some sharing of blame until I watched him
weep, not because the policeman and his family of four were killed
violently after failing to be able to even shut off the car, nor because a
lady was propelled off the road and was killed, but as he watched Toyota's
sales slide and the profits drop! Absolutely no remorse in that man.

Note: From being inundated with all the Toyota ads showing absolutely NO
respect for their own customers [actually depicting their customers as
maroons and idiots], I had vowed to never buy anything from them.

I tell you watching news directly tells far more than watching those
little selected 'news bites' homogenized for the masses.

Still angry,
Robert
