Esteemed body of knowledge, Today I learned about a China customs regulations requiring UN38.3 T1-T8 certification for all lithium batteries: Lithium-ion, Lithium-polymer, and lithium-metal. This is applicable to single use as well as rechargeable batteries. The certifications cannot be manufactures self-declarations, they need to be a third party certificates.
IATA/ICAO have the UN38.3 requirements for air shipments of rechargeable lithium batteries and they accept manufactures self-declarations. Has anyone seen this requirement, know of the regulation that generated this requirement, have a source of this requirement? Any information is helpful. W.
