And I'm familiar with the method used to determine the power or current rating of an audio amplifier but I assume there is one. The term "steady state current" has been used for many years in IEC standards I deal with such as the IEC 60950 and IEC 61010-1. I never gave it much thought if the term is an official IEC defined term or not.
Again, I don't have my references in front of me but "max continuous current" is defined in the US National Electric Code in regard to the 125% rule on plugs. We deal with this issue often with NRTLs and with Canada.
