First my sincere appreciation for all the help, this machine is really starting
to drive me nuts.

  Things that I have now tried are;
Series choke – no apparent affect
Ferrite beads – no apparent affect
Series choke and Ferrite beads – no apparent affect
Wraping the drive in foil – no apparent affect, but the aliens
will not read its thoughts
I put all the grounds to a common point – no affect
I removed all the grounds on the system – no affect

The encoders are BEI H25’s and are differential, the motors nameplates are
long worn away but they are 90v 10amp continuous rated.

Rutex USA says the new drives have different filters, from the older 9series,
which make them more susceptible to noise, but it allows for faster
communication between the drive and computer. He also said that the noise is
from the PWM chopping of the drive itself and not an external source.

I’m hardly a Double E, so I am swimming in the deep end. I used to have
electric RC cars with PWM speed controllers, and we would put small ceramic
caps across the terminals at the motor. Is that an idea, or am I going to kill
myself or worse a motor.

Again thanks for the help and if you have more ideas throw them at me.

This is a bit out of the standard EMC domain, more of an integration issue.

I have a Rutex 2200 drive, coupled to the Rutex motherboard. The encoder
wires are twisted pair, with shielding grounded at the drive; the power wires
are also shielded and run to the motor in a separate conduit. Somewhere I am
getting noise in this system. I have Rutex 9x drives on my other machine and
they run great, Rutex says that the new drives are more susceptible to noise.
How does that work your new product is inferior to the one it replaces?

I have tried shortening wires, adding grounds, checking grounds, even asked
the double E's at school.

Any ideas on how to reduce the noise, looking for any ideas at this point no
matter how crazy. If I have to stand on one foot while operating my mill so be
it.

  Thanks
