I don't think RTnet is too complicated. Have you looked at the sample RTnet tcpdump (http://www.erwinrol.com/downloads/software/rtnet.tcpdump.gz) with wireshark? There's some un-encapsulated UDP in that capture, but the rest of it (ssh, tcp, etc) is encapsulated in rtnet. For those packets, it's just a few extra bytes to designate them as being for RTnet.
