It's a 5k Ohm. It has 15 Volts going through it so the wattage is very
low. Maybe the designers liked the heavier case. I found 2 Watt pots at
Digikey. Now that I am thinking about it, I may have some in some
equipment in the junk pile out back.

The wire wound on the base coil form is much larger than the wire in the
screw. It reminds me of die bond wire. Maybe the wire is die bonded to
the resistor wire through the 4-40 hole. Then the screw is threaded on
like a bead and the hole is staked or welded. Some sort of work is
visible in the screw slot. I am thinking a tiny coil spring from a watch
battery holder could be used to make the connection. Test point pins are
pretty long, I suppose?
