The connection you suggest would only work as expected when you spin the encoder forward. If you spin backwards, the feedrate will be clipped to zero. So it would work very nearly as desired, though the Adaptive Feedrate Override is actually a proportional input. Turning the MPG at a mostly constant rate would result in motion that varies in speed depending on the programmed feed rate.
