I must confess that I had a lot of help from my friends. The intent of those stalwarts was to match up EMC2 with a machining center as a proof of ability. Those fundamental abilities like tool change and such have been in the software since the NIST test at General Motors but this Mazak proved that WE, the EMC2 community could do it. The most significant product of this retrofit is that this Mazak now has abilities that it did not have when new. We designed and built a spindle encoder system, worked up software for a kludge of a spindle controller that had been substituted for the original, and rewired most all of the machine from the most distant screw terminals to the new boards. (These old Mazak machines had lots of screw terminals between sensors and actuators and the M6 control) BTW this machine has been moved and is going into a production operation near Galesburg, IL. Thanks again to each one that had a hand in this machine. Rayh ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
