Do you want to use the old control, use parts of it like the servo amps, or just trace all the wiring? The EMC crew did a Mazak Micro-Center V at Roland Freistad's shop in Galesburg, IL some years ago. It had an insanely complex toolchanger system, with a hydraulically-controlled turret, an arm that swung the tools 90 degrees and then another arm that simultaneously pulled the tool from the transfer arm and spindle, swapped them and then reinserted the tools. Then the other arm put the just-removed tool in the turret.
Ray Henry did most of the work in setting up the tool change logic in Classic Ladder. In this case, I suspect this Kitamura would be a good deal less complex than the Mazak. We do have all the Mazak files on line for download. One thing that has been common in the Fanuc systems is they use servo amps that need velocity feedback from the motors, but they don't have tachs on them. The controller synthesizes an analog velocity signal from the encoder and sends that to the amps. I don't know if that is true on this particular machine, it indicates it has a Yasnac control, not Fanuc.
