In the meantime I'd downloaded the source code tarball and I've successfully installed it from that, I think. However, it hasn't appeared on the Ubuntu menu system so - how can I get it to do so or, alternatively, what command should I put in a launcher to get it to run? I've been trying for about an hour now and everything I've tried has failed..... my program files are in home/www/emc2/emc2-2.3.4 and I don't seem to be able to find the way to send the launcher to the script directory there and then run the emc script.......
