Rumor has it that the double-angle collet system is not nearly as accurate as an ER system. http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INPDFF?PMPAGE=480&PMCTLG=00 For new designs I would tend to go with ER, but I have no first hand experience with this. CAT 30 would be better, because you can use it with an automatic changer. When I get time, I plan to make a CAT 30 spindle for my Bridgeport. The whole head (motor, two speed belt drive, encoder, spindle; no gear box or quill drive) will be on a slide (or rigid and use the knee for Z), like on a bed mill, instead of a quill. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
