Forgive me if I did not understand the tone of this post. I speak English
and a little Spanish so I understand the difficulties of expressing an idea
with complete clarity in a second language.
Hell, I understand the difficulty of expressing an idea in my native
language. :) It seems many times my employees have heard me say 'Just do
whatever the hell you want to do' when in reality that is NOT what I said.

My first experience with a retrofit was with MDSI's OpenCNC software.

purchase software for 5 axis mill - $12,500.00
purchase hardware to MDSI spec - $6,000.00
purchase training at MDSI facility - $2,500.00 + travel
and expenses
purchase help for machine start in my shop - $3,000.00 + travel and
expenses

Up to now this does not include having the machine wiring designed and
installed. That was another $25,000.00.
This does not count my time to learn and install and configure the software
and hardware.

My guess is if you would offer someone this kind of compensation you would
be able to dictate the project.

With EMC2, you can do each of these projects yourself, ask questions and
receive answers and help for free.

I may be wrong but if the feature you want is valuable enough then I think
you could fund the development and then sell the feature to interested
people. I don't know all the requirements of this endeavor. You would have
to research that also.

I am sure everyone would be happy if you would fund this project and then
release it to EMC2 for everyone to enjoy. The 'developers' have done this.

Is there another FREE software package that has the features you want?
I understand the desire for needed capability. I need some capability for
two of my machines. They each have Fanuc controls. To add the capability my
options are as follows:

Fanuc 16i control
4 axis dynamic fixture offsets - $6000.00 + installation

install EMC2

my choice of these options - I could choose to keep the Fanuc control and
pay for the feature. Probably not as I want all my machines to have EMC2.

Fanuc 15MB
options not available
retrofit new Fanuc control - did not price as I know this is way more
than I would want to spend

install EMC2

my choice of these options - EMC2 is my only option

Just like me you have options.

thanks
Stuart
