No, I needed to try a sample of pipe welding as a prerequisite for trying to win another robot-building deal. The main task for this robot is expected to be hydraulic cylinders (one of them is shown in the very end of video) and the beams of hydraulic manipulators. It did not really miss much the top point of that line - the tip of welding gun is at 45 degree angle and it is nasty tight corner, so there is additional offset between the tip of the gun and line on the surface of material. There was another problem with that particular line between both smaller pipes - both passes did not hit the line, but welded along it. I think that in video it can be seen that even for that perimeter line it did not hit the line, but missed it a little bit. I think that main reason would be the fact that I holded it with hands, when it was spot-welded just to keep them together and I did not really hold them to match the CAD file. Some conductor or something else is needed for such application. But I think that those are just a technical details, concept is proven to be wworking. Anyway, my main goal was to show that robot can do that, the weld is really smooth and precision can be worked out. So there is some success in it. How much - I will see that, when I will meet that potential customer...
