If i understand you two correctly, you're saying that you're using Axis, and you can jog using the jog keys while in the MDI tab. Is that correct? If so, that's a bug, I think. What version of emc2 are you using? There is a bug in 2.4.6 that permits exactly this behavior. It's been fixed in the 2.4 branch (and all the other branches), but it hasn't been released yet.
