Well, I'm not quite there yet. I installed 10.04/2.4.3 onto the mill PC,
brought up halrun, loadrt pluto_servo, it loads and "shows" all the pins
and such... cool. Now, I update my mill .hal file, discover and fix the
changed bits in the .ini file, start the mill and get no PWM output. I
halmeter the PWM pins and it supposed to be running. I start over using
the motherboard port and it works fine. After some fiddling, I find that
if I specify the pluto_servo ioaddr_hi option, the driver won't load.
Taking a wild guess I tried an ioaddr_hi at extended+2 and it loads
fine, shows and retains pin and parameter settings, but no output. I
think there may be a bug in the driver. All of the literature I have
seen refers to the parallel port registers as two groups based on the
base register address and the extended register address. The EPP juicy
bit is the the register two spots above the extended register, so I
think someone has mistaken it as the extended register reference
address. Whether that would cause the symptom I am seeing, I don't know,
but it might be worth a look-see. I'm wondering what I should do next.
