I have a couple of those 8Gb usbkeys, one of which I wrote an .iso to with dd, which theoretically should work. I could mount the image and read it, but none of my machines have a new enough bios that they could boot from it.

So far, I have not felt the need for that sort of performance, the only "almost servo" drives I own are the spindle motors in my two toy's. The mill at least, gives me very stiff speed controls from a PMDX-106 interface. So stiff that I had to put an inline ammeter in so I could see how hard the spindle is working & slow the feedrate if it got close to stalling & blowing its supply fuse. I haven't looked, but I assume that same board could also control the 7x10's motor although that controller isn't near as 'stiff' and its quite easy to hear when its working too hard. > Usual LPT breakout boards that require software step generation do not > require EPP, so would work fine. > Thanks Viesturs Cheers, Gene -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
