I guess that this is not the right place to ask this question - we are
LinuxCNC users here :))
And why should anyone of us use TurboCNC anyway, if LinuxCNC provides
more features and better performance?

With regards of modern PCs to have way more capacity than a CNC
controller software requires, I seriously doubt that You will find a
freshly manufactured PC, which has the capacity to run DOS and nothing
much more. Not only smartphones, but also usual cell phones have more
calculating power than required for DOS.

As other members mentioned, it is the freedom of the user to decide,
if particular PC is going to be dedicated only to machine control thus
it is built in machine case, probably equipped with touchscreen and
lots of hardware buttons, MPGs and other stuff, but have no keyboard
or mouse (thus making it difficult to use the PC for any other common
tasks like web surfing) or have just a keyboard and mouse attached to
it, so that it is versatile and easy to use PC, but not the most
convinient setup to control a CNC machine, as I do not know a way of
adding keyboard hotkey for particular, frequently-used feature.

You decide, what Your machine is going to be. And PCs getting more and
more powerful is a fact and I find it better to try to get an
advantage out of it rather than grumbling and trying to keep living
with some oldschool concepts.
Please, do not get me wrong, but I really do not see Your point.
