Beaglebone -- TI chip. Intended for industrial use. Family will be
available forever. The boards are open source.

Raspberry Pi -- Broadcom chip. Intended for cell phone use. A new model
every year. The boards are open source -- you just can't buy the chips
for them.

The PRU on the Beaglebone is a deal maker.
