Doing a little math, with engine efficiency at 100%, diesel at 140K btu per US gallon, with a vehicle getting 200 mpg at 60 mph, you only have an average 16.5 hp available (at 100% engine efficiency - if you have one, I want to buy it!)
A full size, 3000 lb sedan.. I think not! And you better not hit any hills. On ramps?? I think not. Faired out motorcycles or vehicles with bicycle wheels are not cars.. At 200 mpg, you can only use 128/200 = .64 oz of fuel per mile. A shot glass holds about 1.5 oz. Yeah... good luck doing that with a 3000 lb sedan. The XL1 is a hybrid.. oh yeah.. we charged up the battery overnight.. so that doesn't count?? Yes it does!! http://www.gizmag.com/volkswagen-xl1-most-fuel-efficient/26367/ Double the weight of the XL1, add seats since I need a 4 door sedan, put on tires that actually have some traction so you can drive in rain and snow, and you back to way under 100 mpg. Does this look anything like a sedan?? Uh no.. http://www.gizmag.com/volkswagen-xl1-most-fuel-efficient/26367/pictures#10 Reality bites..
