It is preferable if you can keep it aligned so the magnets don't get 
chipped.
But, I strongly suspect your motor shop doesn't have some fantastic
fixture to do this, either!  In general, you can remove bolts that hold
the end covers to the stator housing and use a puller to pull the end
cover off with the bearing.  Then, push the cover back and the bearing
will be left exposed on the shaft.  Pull and replace the bearing,
and reassemble.  If you are gentle with it, you can probably avoid
much chipping of the magnets, and the motor should be fine.

It may be important to remove the encoder before any disassembly
of the motor, depending on how it is put together.
