and what connectons are you using on the stepper drives , as these have

Hmmm - I see what you are saying. I wired for each axis (X shown):
step0- to PUL- on DM856
step0+ to PUL+ on DM856
dir0- to DIR- on DM856
dir0+ to DIR+ on DM856
ENA+ and ENA- on DM856 currently floating.
It was my attempt of running balanced, with twisted pair between 7i76 and
drivers.
I'll try tying the + side of pulse, direction, and enable high, and report
back.
Marius - right now I'm using pncconf - will try the above before digging in
to the config files.
