Hi Guys.... I have not messed with engrave for quite a while. I fired it up and found my new development machine was missing fonts. I tried the qcad fonts, but they have changed the font file format when the transitioned from qcad V2 to qcad V3. The Qcad version 3 font files do not parse properly. I updated the wiki page with a set of fonts that do seem to work OK. <http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Simple_LinuxCNC_G-Code_Generators#Text_Engraving_Software>
Ultimately, the font parsing could be updated to support the new format, but its not on my plate at the moment. Chris's TTT (true type tracer) is a very good alternative for generating engraving gcode. The advantage to engrave is that it uses very simple stick fonts that dont require filling. Qcad V3 has gone kind of commercial adware and is not available in the linux mint repositories.... it took a bit of searching to find the older format fonts. I would not recommend installing qcad.
