I rather assumed a more or less stable home would be a requirement. It
seems to help, although I did tap a few holes before I had the switches
installed. Which leaves the problem of finding x's true center at 0.000
since I put that homing switch about 5 thou from the back out mechanical
stop.

To that end I have purchased a laser pointer in hopes I can make a mount
for it that will plug into the rear of the spindle, and be easily adjusted
for minimum error while its rotating, and then the tool advanced to touch
the beam, which should get me within 50 thou (the red beam is about that
thick & definitely not circular), regardless of the tool mounted. But its
still in the box as yet. :( life keeps getting in the way.

No clue if the idea even has any merit, but it seems like it would be
worth a try, and while adjusting tailstock offset.

Back to the Bolton Vs Grizzly, Grizzly has 1 model, Bolton has two of
similar descriptions once you get past the Bolton BS. The Grizzly appears
to be the same as the slightly smaller Bolton. Only a 1 hp spindle, but
the Grizzly comes with 2 chucks and tools like follower rests etc. Only
the freight takes it above 2 grand.

Bolton wants extra for those. Hopefully Grizzly will add the 1.3HP, 23"
between centers model with all chucks & tools before I fall over. However
it is not on their web page a/o last night.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
