So far I always taught my customers to use G54, I actually never thought about using G92 for setting origin of part coordinates. Is there any reason not to use G54 or whatever part coordinate systems? That is exactly what they are meant for, they are easy to set with touch-off (there is keyboard shortcut) and can be set with G10 L20 command as well from MDI or g-code file.
