I've ALWAYS thought it was a "bug", as in behavior that got 
in my way.  I held off
on updating my system until Axis was developed, which mostly 
hides the G92
(mis)behavior.

I certainly support a change to just leave any G92 offset in 
place until the
operator explicitly changes it.
