You hit the nail!

Exception is if missed dead line is preferred so that some tasks could be made 
real time. If linuxcnc is run on a communication bus it would probably be 
preferred to miss a dead line on other buses or a jerk on the screen instead 
instead of missing a dead line in linuxcnc. With a 1kHz servo period I expect 
there other tasks that must be handled with higher priorities.
