It will take only a few minutes to know it it will work.  Boot Linux from a
CD and it if comes up and runs at all you are good to go.

But the specs on that old MB are not great.  As it turns out, the best
deals are for used systems, not used parts.  You can buy a PC in a chassis
with power supply disk, CD memory and an OS that boots for under $100.
