Update, the last 15 wires in that cable were open. The connectors were 
backed off about 1/32", poorly clamped, but the main problem I suspect 
is that I did not strip the #26 wire off the cable full length when I 
made it some 2 years ago, resulting in that connector being forced out 
of alignment with the conductors. Two new connectors, a proper 25 wire 
cable, and its all alive and well.  Now to rig the dual pid's for the 
spindle as I described earlier.
