So you are asking if the shield will somehow shied out the effect of the
ferrite choke.   Not.  You can use both.   The shield only shields the
electric field.  The magnetic field goes right on through the coper braid
as if it was plastic.  The ferrite choke works on magnetic field.

But if using a second power supply helped then I doubt the ferrite choke
will fix the same problem.   The problem was maybe in the write routing
(were signal and power wires running parallel to each other?) or it was
noise on the ground.

But buying a dozen snap on ferrite chokes might help with other issues.
