Well, I used one from 1998 - 2005 or so. It had a glitch -
when the counter rolled over from 0 to -1 count or back the
other way, it would report wildly crazy positions. You
would usually see this right after homing, when the encoders
were dithering right on the zero transition. A fix was put
in the driver to suppress huge changes in encoder count over
one servo period. I never figured out whether the issue was
poor power decoupling on the board or a defect in the LS7266
chips. Or possibly, either the card logic or LinuxCNC
driver did not bother to clock the live count into a holding
register before reading out the individual bytes. I never
wanted to dig deeper into the bug.
