Here at the University of South Carolina we have a similar program in
place, also funded by the VAWA monies. This has been a gradually
evolving effort over several years which has resulted in policy
development, training, and a cooperative effort involving a multitude of
on-campus and off-campus players.

Something which the Office of Sexual Health and Violence Prevention
offered this past summer which was very successful was a luncheon
hosting representatives of law enforcement and the judicial system in
our local area along with our broad campus coalition of folks involved
in the response to sexual and relationship violence.  Attendance was
very strong and, as a relationship building effort, the luncheon was
very successful.

We're really proud of this program and I personally believe that it
truly has helped to reduce the repercussions of sexual and relationship
violence.  The hope is that continuing the efforts will actually reduce
the number of offenses.  Key to that part of the effort is male
leadership and role modeling.
