Preventing Violence and men consciousness is a very important tool. Nothing we can do, without men's involvement, in this process that has to be shared by women and men. Civil Society, NGO, Working Groups, Governments, and all others body must focus on male behavior and break many cultural values that allows men to take violence as a men right of "Machism".
New and more protective laws preventing violence are very important, but we must, also, try to prevent violence from the roots: cultural values, access to education for everybody, no poverty, social developments, punishments for governments corruptions, parents education, drugs, alcohol and social justice....... But it is also very important to spread and acute messages of peace, love, respect, equality and support for the must needed. As a member of Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA), a Federation that belongs to Soroptimist International, our club in Caracas-Venezuela, whose most important goal is to work on advancing the status of women and domestic violence prevention, which is the major program of our Federation through SIA Foundation provide assistance and guidance, but also financial support for many programs involving domestic violence prevention. As a single club we held self-esteem courses for women and men; we have a program to give education to the police-members how they must treat women victim of violence; we focus and support our local government for the construction of the first refuge-shelter, which is a reality now. We sponsor parents educational courses at several elementary school locally, etc. In my believe it is very important to recognize the importance of the great achievements that promote this kind of forum and the motivation and support that they give to all of us. Making possible to know the reality of the all participating countries and ethnical and cultural difference. All together we need to continue strongly working and mix laws, legislations, education and social developments as the structure for a better world. As much we can involve men in this process and make them understand that men and women, as equals, respecting each other and respecting each individual role, are the pillars for the family, society and a very peaceful world.
