Are people who were leaders at school more likely to be leaders later
in life?
A. Some people start their political career or emerge as leaders much later
in life. There are others who show leadership traits much early in life. I
am unable to concluded precisely.
Q2.
(a) Why have most leaders been men? **
(b) Are there differences between man and woman as leaders?*

A. (a) Most leaders have been men only because of the lack of freedom that
women enjoyed till now. Asian countries are known for unequal and unfair
status to women, but Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Israel,
Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia. Both Indian president (Mrs Pratibha
Patil) and head of the ruling party (Mrs Soniya Gandhi) are women.
With the empowered of women, they have started taking lead role not
only in politics, but in all other fronts as well.
"*Sri Lanka produced the world’s first democratically-elected (female)
leader in 1960, when the post was filled by Sirimavo Bandaranaike, mother of
current Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga. Bandaranaike assumed
power after the assassination of her husband. She has served as prime
minister three separate times.
In contrast, western societies didn’t produce their first female head of
state for almost two decades more, until 1979, when Margaret Thatcher became
prime minister of Great Britain. That same year, Simone Weil of France
became the first president of the European Union. *"

A. **There are hardly any good leader these days. It seems that good leaders
are a thing of past now, due to the rise in personal greed. :(
