Hi list,

I'm having trouble with Enigmail for some time now (thought it would go
away with updates, but it never did). Finally it annoys me enough to
post to this list.

My OS is Gentoo on x86_64, I'm using

gpg (GnuPG) 2.0.19
libgcrypt 1.5.0
TB 17.0.6 (Gentoo ebuild mail-client/thunderbird-17.0.6)
with the Enigmail version that comes with Gentoo (+crypt -> Enigmail
1.6a1pre)

When I write emails that contain Umlauts, they are destroyed when the
Mail is signed and signature verification fails subsequently:

Message source for that message:

The Umlauts I typed where äöüÄß (in that order). The control sequence
that is stored for the "ä" is "ef bf a4". Note that the correct UTF-8
control sequence for "ä" is "c3 a4" and the correct latin1 control
sequence for "ä" is "e4". I tried playing around encoding these back and
forth but couldn't come up with how TB ends with "ef bf a4" for the life
of me.

Is there anything I can try to narrow down that problem?

Best regards,
Johannes
