David, you're beginning to harsh my mellow. You're arguing two different things here. First you say that grandma and grandpa don't care about email security. You're right! And they won't download Enigmail or GnuPG because, well, they don't care. And yet you say that our inability to make them care, and our unwillingness to try and make them care, means we're focused on a "just for us really paranoid really smart geeks" application. Either they don't care and won't download Enigmail and GnuPG -- in which case, why are we targeting them as users? -- or they will, in which case they *do* care and they *are* our target users, and your thesis is wrong. I get the feeling you're arguing both sides of this simply out of a desire to be angry at someone.
