Now you're leaving the pseudo-technical discussion and delving into
politics. I would advocate EWL and Simon would advocate ETK, this is
going to come down to who you ask.

No, ETK is not an EWL replacement, they are independent development
efforts. There are mailing list archives that cover this topic
thoroughly, feel free to search those if you really want to know the
reasons.

Use what you like. If you are developing an application that a toolkit
is sufficient for, then use a toolkit. If you are developing something
with a highly custom interface, then use Edje. There are points in
between where you can mix the two fairly easily. For example, using a
toolkit to provide file chooser dialogs or standard widgets, or
creating a custom theme for the toolkit to make your application look
a specific way.

I don't know of any good sources for this atm. The Edje or EFL
cookbook documents in CVS might cover this somewhat, but looking at
existing apps is probably the easiest way to pick it up.
