As raster already mentioned this is a theme thing. I feel people argue about it because the just want to keep the default theme if possible. But we already have the analog and tube digital clock themes in default and it should be possible to have a third option in the default theme if people care to do it. A tclock style clock was often brought up when talking about E-EXTRA-MODULES so it seems quite some people like them. I for one would think having a third theme for the clock in the default theme would be ok.
