Ravenlock,

I did as you suggested, but I get the same results.  E17 segfaults at 
the splash screen, I recover, 15 seconds later, it segfaults again. I'm 
beginning to wonder if this is something specific with FreeBSD 
7.0-RELEASE.  I didn't have these issues under 6.3-RELEASE.
