Hi all, Thanks to help from this list, I've been able to build e and get it up and running (I used to use it 2-3 years ago, but after replacing my machine I never picked it back up). I've been playing with arranging modules/gadgets and with the various settings. I do like my ibar to be transparent, which seems to only be available when I enable the composite module. However, when composite is enabled, I do notice a sluggish video response when moving / resizing windows, clicking through menus, etc.
I'm looking for any thoughts on fine-tuning my setup for video performance. For hardware, I have a Core i3-530 with integrated graphics. I've taken this processor for a ride by playing a 1080p, high quality version of Avatar on it and playback was real smooth, with CPU utilization usually between 20-30%. If I drag a terminal around my desktop, 2 of my 4 virtual CPUs (it is a dual core chip with hyper-threading, so it shows up as 4 CPUs in system monitor), I get 2 of those cores up over 50% utilization. Software engine seems to perform better than OpenGL. I haven't played with any of the other composite settings (don't really know what they do). XOrg is picking up the "intel" driver, and from what I can tell looking over the log, it looks fine. Kernel is 2.6.32-26-generic, distribution is Ubuntu 10.04. I'm wondering if anyone else has similar video hardware or otherwise and can provide tips for performance tweaks (I was expecting performance to be a major plus of using e)? I'd be happy to provide more system information to identify hardware, logs, etc. Thanks for the help, and it feels real good to have a nice clean desktop with all my (your) gadgets again :) Jason ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What You Don't Know About Data Connectivity CAN Hurt You This paper provides an overview of data connectivity, details its effect on application quality, and explores various alternative solutions. http://p.sf.net/sfu/progress-d2d _______________________________________________ enlightenment-users mailing list enlightenment-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/enlightenment-users
